Dein Bergsommer in Osttirol

Welcome to Lienz

East Tyrol shows summer at its best: sunny, spacious, and characterized by the Lienz Dolomites and the Hohe Tauern National Park. Around Lienz, panoramic hikes, family-friendly via ferrata routes, and varied mountain bike and gravel routes await—from the Drau Cycle Path to alpine trails. Refreshment is provided by Lake Tristach, the Galitzenklamm gorge, and clear mountain streams; action is available with rafting and kayaking on the Isel River. With the mountain railways on Zettersfeld & Hochstein, you can start directly into the high-altitude panorama, then enjoy regional cuisine in alpine huts and cafés in Lienz’s old town. Summer vacation in East Tyrol: close to nature, slow-paced, and ideal for active vacationers, families, and connoisseurs.

Must-Do

Lake Tristach

If you’re looking for a nice place to cool off in summer, head to Lake Tristach – the idyllic lake in the sunny town. This small natural lake is just a few minutes outside of Lienz and offers everything you need on a hot day: clear water, a peaceful forest backdrop, and plenty of space to breathe.

It’s best to start early: first a leisurely walk around the shore, then a dip in the water or a few relaxing laps on a SUP. Those who prefer to read, doze or let their gaze wander will find plenty of shady spots under the old trees. Later, the beach café is well worth a visit – coffee or ice cream taste even better with a view of the Dolomites.

From harry’s home Lienz, Lake Tristach is also easily and quickly accessible by e-bike – just rent one and start pedaling.
